Been a year or so since I got this one, and began accumulating the requisite gold parts, including original Ibanez "Star" tuners and Super 70 PUPS. I got it sort-of restored, but all in chrome.

It's had a Kahler on it and has a fill-block under the PG. Also had a giant PG at some point, so there are a few old screw holes, but not too bad. I had to make a new pick guard, and fill/re-drill the post holes, etc, etc, etc....

Last thing I needed was PUP height adjusting screws in gold, so I took the PUPs to my local(90 minute round trip) music shop, and got them to order some gold ones in the size I needed. Got a call a couple weeks later, and went to pick them up, only to find they ordered the wrong ones. 3 hours + wasted on $2.40 worth of screws and the guitar sitting on the bench without being finished. New screws came a week or so later, and now she's back together and sounds great. The SUper 70's are Maxon PAF clones, and have a great tone.

Pix,

A couple other things needed doing, like re-plating the tuners, and replacing the switch, and a couple solder repairs, but not too bad. Still need a TRC cover made, but I wanted it back together..... bliss

Love this guitar. It is also exceptionally rare, all the more so because lots of them got destroyed by hair and metal band wannabe's.

laughing6-hehe

Yeah, this one is June 1976. notable for a couple reasons. One, it's a true "lawsuit" guitar, having the open book headstock, and being an Ibanez. No other guitar is a true lawsuit guitar, despite what one can read. Second, it's likely one of the last with the open book, as the transition to Ibanez' "tulip" style was already underway. Third, it makes a third of the "Korina Trilogy" that are very sought after by Ibanez collectors, along with the Rocket Roll Sr.(Flying V) and Destroyer(Explorer) they made up McCarty's three "futuristc" guitars......

Took me ten years to find one of these in Australia. Pretty rare beastie......

I'm a big fan of the older stuff. 70's to early 80's, but I start to lose interest when they start getting too pointy..... idunno
